About UT Habitat for Humanity
The University of Toledo Habitat for Humanity started in 1999 and has been developing ever since. The UT chapter works in affiliation with the local Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity, which has been in existence since 1989.
In connection with the Maumee Valley affiliate, we work throughout Lucas County to help build Habitat homes. Our most recent projects have been on Oakshadow Court in Holland, OH and neighborhoods in northern Toledo, OH. We have also had the opportunity to work in Fulton county with their local affiliate. The work we do includes landscaping, preparing the build site for workers, and assisting with builds as volunteers. We also participate in the annual Lucas County Clean Your Streams. On top of our work in the community, we also host events on campus to educate and involve students. Some of our past campus events have been Cardboard City, which raises awareness of homelessness, Act! Speak! Build! Week, which includes a variety of activities aimed at education of the student body, and Collegiate Challenge, which is an alternative spring break trip.
